Very nice piece, Kris. I confess I was dubious at first—expecting one of the ubiquitous tales of burning sugar cubes and "high thujone" Czech fake absinthe.
Only one correction: it was Van Gogh who cut off his earlobe, not Picasso. But then, Van Gogh also drank turpentine. ; )
Good job. Thanks for helping spread correct info about absinthe.
